A note from the artistPottery has been an integral part of human life since prehistoric times. Just as early man created and decorated clay vessels out of necessity, people today use similar hand crafted works of art. I draw inspiration for my pottery from ancient and modern cultures and rituals. It is my aim to capture the same degree of intimacy with each piece, as our ancestors accomplished. It never ceases to amaze me what one can create from a combination of mud, sand, stone and heat. Everything out of my kiln is hand made by a combination of processes. Most pieces are wheel thrown, hand-built, and/or carved. Therefore, no two works are precisely the same. I believe that something simultaneously serving a function and causing reflection is something worth having. Things that enrich our lives and our minds together are more than simple desires. I strive to combine function with art, as to continue the custom of living with art in our daily lives. This principle is one that has inspired people from the beginning of our human existence: to create and decorate our surroundings. For function, I fire stoneware clay bodies, which are dishwasher, oven and microwave safe. All items use lead free, non-toxic glazes unless specified. For the sake of art, I strive to capture moments in time, from the roots of human experience and culture, in each piece. Please enjoy looking around! There are some items for sale in the catalog. You may see something you like, and it sells before you get a chance to grab it. If you have a request, you may send it via the contact form. You may purchase my art at retail locations or by coming to a show where you might also meet me in person. Please enjoy your visit.
